both traditional and nontraditional.
Our goal is to expand the appreciation of the arts 
in our community and region, one "ARTpop" at a time!

HOOKED ON CROCHET with Denise Paugh

From the moment you pick up the crochet hook and yarn, you will be totally absorbed in the texture and rhythm of crocheting. Will it be a scarf, or baby booties, or a lovely decoration for your home? Whatever it is, you will be “hooked” for sure. This class is designed for beginners; all materials are provided.

This jewelry-making technique requires “sawing” a pattern into metal with a special tool.  Students will start off with a simple idea, and then graduate to more complex designs as confidence builds. Denise works her jewelry patterns in various media. Let her teach you this art style.

DENISE PAUGH earned a BA in Dance Education/Theater from UNC-Charlotte.  She has taught in the Rowan-Salisbury School (RSS) system since 2006. Denise created, developed and implemented the county’s first honors curriculum for Dance, and she now serves as a K-5 art specialist at Knollwood and Overton Elementary schools.

Denise joined the Waterworks team this past summer teaching the art of jewelry making. She is owner and designer of her own jewelry design business, Denise Paugh Designs.


RICK ANDERSON is a hometown “boy,” born and raised. He graduated from Catawba College in 1988 and is the owner and operator of the Sidewalk Deli, a downtown Salisbury luncheon hot spot for over 23 years.

Rick is a huge supporter of the arts in Rowan County. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Lee Street  Theater, and joyfully shares his culinary art, mixology skills, and extraordinary entertaining tips and secrets. This will be Rick’s fourth experiential party class at Waterworks.
