My Career as an Illustrator, Walter Stanford
A discussion of his creative process working in pastel, followed by a demonstration of his colorful technique.

Why Impressionism?, Phyllis Steimel
Thoughts from an artist who studies the principles of Impressionism and Fauvism.

Post-Impressionism, Don Moore
Impression broke the last of the ties with the Royal Academies of Europe.  The Post-Impressionists, with the influence of the newly invented camera, set the stage for the major art movements of the 20th Century.  Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cezanne, and Seurat will be shown with examples of the "isms" of the 20th Century.

Within the Wood, Rick Sorensen
A demonstration of the art of wood sculpture.  Rick uses mallet, chisels, knives, and gouges to release the art inside his found hardwood.

Tuition:  $15 per session or 4/$50

Life Drawing
Ages 18 and up
Tuesday   6:30-9pm    February 14, 21, 28; March 6, 13, 20, 27; April 3
Tuition: $200 / Members-Teachers $160 (includes model)

 For beginners, as well as repeat students, this class offers professional demonstrations and instruction with a variety of instructors offering several approaches and tips to this classic artist’s subject.  Learn different methods to make figure drawing easier, from professional artists:

Beginning and Intermediate Pottery II  New class!
Ages 14 and up
Tuesday  6:30-9pm     February 14, 21, 28; March 6, 13, 20
Instructor:  Beth Wright
Tuition: $180 / Members $150 (includes materials & kiln firing)
 For beginners and those with previous experience, this class will cover basic and intermediate techniques for creating wheel-thrown forms, hand-built pottery, and glazing techniques.  In addition to
creating wheel thrown forms, students will examine techniques used in creating figurative folk art forms such as face jugs and chicken whimsies. Class is limited to 8 students.
 
 
Beginning / Intermediate Painting
Ages14 and up
Thursday  6:30-9pm    February 16, 23; March 1, 8, 15, 22
Instructor:  Phyllis Steimel
Tuition: $150 / Members $120 (includes all materials)
 
Students learn the very important fundamentals in creating extraordinary paintings.  Work in the medium of your choice, while studying the important effects of composition and color in a painting.
For all skill levels, beginning to advanced.
 
 
Perfecting Your Darkroom Skills
Ages 16 and up
Thursday 6:30-9pm    February 16, 23; March 1, 8, 15, 22
 Instructor: Wayne Wrights
Tuition: $180 / Members $150
Includes 10 sheets of photo paper, 2 rolls 35mm film, & Darkroom Fees.
Additional paper and film may be purchased in the WVAC Museum Store.
 Students will build on existing skills to become comfortable in operating darkroom equipment, developing film, using processing chemicals, enlarging prints, using contrast filters, and more.  Students will receive certification to use the Linn-Norvell Darkroom.  Bring your 35mm film camera.  Class is limited to 6 students.
